1. What are the concrete aims of the Partnership?
The main aim of the partnership is to find out the best ways of social integration of the mentally handicapped pupils and methods of work with their parents in order to help them to socialize their children. Another aim of the project is to make this important real problem known to all the parts of the public (parents, citizens, local communities) focusing on publications by using media and Internet network in order to modify and improve special educational systems of the participating countries.
For completing he aims listed above, it is intended during the partnership to get a detailed view of the handicapped students socialization problems in different societies, to find real and applicable methods for these students and the society around them in terms of social integration. For finding or applying these methods the most important work is the exchanging of information between partners of the special educational schools. It gives an opportunity to overview and discuss the following aspects of social integration:
· Adaptation problems. Maladaquite behaviour in society. Opportunities for work, coping with everyday needs, spending leisure time, self-service, communication with other people its.
· Abuse of mentally handicapped children by other people in their everyday life, studying, work.
· The existing methods at schools from different countries, which promote/ disturb the pupils to be or to become independent. Finding out advantages and disadvantages of these methods.
· Finding out the best practices and also the area for development in educational systems of the schools from participating countries.
· The opportunities to get more different social skills outside of school. The collaboration with the networking partners.
· The parents’ view to the problem mentally handicapped children’s social integration. Their main concerns and problems. How parents’ behaviour can enhance their children independency, social adaptation. The parents’ expectations from school. Schools’ strategies of work with parents, connected with the question of social integration of their children.
2. What impact is the Partnership expected to have on the participants and other interested parties (on the pupils, teachers, institutions, local community, wider educational community)?
The experience exchanging between different countries gives opportunities to see different styles, strategies of work that can be acquired after by other schools and integrated into their education system for the purpose of the increasing this systems’ effectiveness and the increasing quality of life of the mentally handicapped children.
Teachers studying any subject can learn more about national and international special education systems and problems, also these teachers and directors will have a chance to exchange and compare different systems and apply new applicable teaching methods with their pupils.
Parents of mentally handicapped children will have a chance to realize that they are not alone in their city, country and in the world when they learn about the problems of other parents from different countries.
Also, the most expected impact of the project idea is the sensibility for the mentally handicapped children and young people who are trying to get a place in the society and trying to live as other citizens.
3. How do you intend to evaluate the progress of the Partnership and its impact on the participating pupils and teachers, the participating institutions and, where relevant, on the local community?
During regular school conferences, with the everyday subjects concerning the school activities, the development of Comenius partnership will be discussed (with a frequency depending on school)
At the end of each two months, the partner schools will report about their works connected with the Comenius partnership to the coordinator school through Internet. Getting connected with all partners, the progress of the partnership will be evaluated.
After every visit of the partner schools, all partners should write down a visit report and make a conference at school to evaluate the progress of the project and its impact on the participating institution.
4. How do you intend to disseminate and use the results, experience and end products amongst the participating institutions, other institutions and the local community?
To realize the works done during the partnership, creating a Homepage, making exhibitions in different institutions, publishing booklets, making short films will be the ways of disseminating the results amongst the participating schools, other institutions and local community. Each institution will get information about educational system from other countries and specifically how they solve the problems of their students’ social integration, that can contribute to improvement an approach in teaching in certain ways and school staff can adopt the methods of education, used by the schools from other countries, in their schools. The best practices of different countries can encourage local communities to review and improve educational system of the country, implement new methods into the aducational program.
5. Please describe the role and tasks of all institutions involved in the Partnership.
The role of each institution is important, because the schools are from different countries, they have different methods according to their history, economy, culture its. But the problems of the social integration of mentally handicapped students are similar and some countries have already decided some of these problems. They can share this experience with the schools from other countries.
All institutions have the same tasks in the partnership. Each institution takes an active part in completing of all activities of the partnership listed below and in exchanging the results amongst the participating schools. One of the main tasks of each institution is to prepare and share information concerning social integration of their students, main problems, these problems solving methods and also gathered opinions of teachers about their main problems and suggestions of improvement the educational system of their country. During the visits time each school will share their problems connected with the social integration of mentally handicapped children and experience in solving of these problems. Special attention will be paid on the receiving partner school, which can show activities, connected with social integration, school devices, which help children to work and communicate its. Parents of the students can tell about their main concerns and expectations, express their suggestions connected with the problem of social integration.
6. How will effective communication and cooperation between the participating institutions be ensured?
The project visits play an important role in communication of the partnership.
During the partnership the partners will be connected due to e-mail correspondance and will prepare and share the reports to make a better cooperation.
7. Active involvement of pupils and/or staff
- If you plan to actively involve pupils in the Partnership, please explain to what extent they will be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of activities.
- If your Partnership mainly deals with pedagogical or management issues, please explain how all relevant staff will be actively involved in planning, implementation and evaluation of activities.
Staff, that is involved into the partnership, is intended to communicate through internet with other partners and report about the ongoing activities, will actively seek the answers for the topics of the partnership, participate in the preparation of all end results of the project and give a feedback to other partners.
8. Integration of the Partnership into the curriculum and/or ongoing activities
- If the Partnership focuses on pupil involvement, please explain how the Partnership will be integrated into the curriculum of the participating pupils at the institutions involved.
- If your Partnership mainly deals with pedagogical or management issues, please explain how the Partnership activities will be integrated into the ongoing activities of the participating institutions.
The first year the comparison of special education systems of participating countries will take place as the main activities. The application and practice of these systems on school life all through Europe will be compared between partners and after the exchanges, the differences between the five partner countries will be compared to find new applications or new solutions to the ongoing unusable
9. If your Partnership concerns intercultural dialogue, please explain how you will address this theme.
The partnership aim is to find different possibilities of better social integration for the children with special needs. The mentally handicapped pupil’s social integration problems will be investigated and compared during the partnership. Parents of pupils from the participating will be actively involved in to the partnership activities through interviews and questionnaires.
10. If you have planned specific activities around one or several of the Comenius priorities below, please explain in detail the concrete measures you intend to take:
§ to promote early language learning, multilingual comprehension and/or Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)
§ to help people with a disability or other special needs to take part in the Partnership
§ to help promote the participation of pupils or organisations disadvantaged for socio-economic, geographic or other reasons
§ to make sure that girls/women and boys/men have equal access to the Partnership
§ to meet the needs of children of occupational travellers and of mobile workers

Please note that Bilateral Partnerships are only possible if they have a clear focus on languages and include reciprocal class exchanges of minimum 10 days involving pupils aged at least 12.

Please describe for both participating schools what kind of preparation in the target language will be provided for the pupils participating in the Partnership prior to each exchange, in terms of a) the number of hours, b) who will provide the preparation, c) method(s) to be used, and d) expected proficiency level.
